A total of 141 data science professionals graduated from the 9th batch of Certificate Programme in Business Analytics at the Indian School of Business (ISB) here on Saturday.
Offered by the Applied Statistics and Computing Lab at the ISB, the programme has an alumni network of over 750 analytics professionals. The current class of 141 participants from Hyderabad and Mohali cohort will be added to the alumni through the graduating class, a release from ISB said.
Some of the students from the current class developed solutions for specially-abled kids with the help of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques. A few of them built a startup in Blockchain and got funding.
One of the student teams developed Edison V2, a smart glass using AI that helps visually impaired to walk safely and smartly on the streets. One of the students was part of the team that recently secured the top award by the Central government’s Startup India initiative, the release said.
The programme trains the students in four aspects of business analytics — Statistics, Programming, Machine Learning, and Business Applications — and is designed for business professionals to maximise learning, with minimum disruption to professional responsibilities.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Group Head, Agri & IT Businesses of ITC Ltd S. Sivakumar said business analytics was currently the most required skill for businesses. Senior Associate Dean, Academic Programmes at ISB Ramabhadran Thirumalai said the analytic tools taught in the programme would help the students contribute towards better decision-making in businesses.
