That’s the opinion of event coordinator Kim-Cherie Davidson.
More than 150 Christmas lunches were plated and the function was supported by 40 volunteers who served the fresh fruit, chicken, ham and salad with pudding and custard for dessert.
There were plenty of activities for children, music by the Noel Riley Band and of, course, a visit by Santa, with everyone receiving a gift.
“We are so grateful to have had a great partnership with the Anglican Parish of Singleton, some keen volunteers and hugely generous sponsors and supporters,” Ms Davidson said.
“Mt Owen Complex and Yancoal Mt Thorley sponsored our event and we couldn’t have done it without the generous support of The Bloomfield Group Foundation, Singleton RSC Snooker Club and the Rotary Club of Singleton.
“Here’s just one example of our community’s generosity.
“I received a call from Bulga Open Cut Mine on Christmas Eve, giving us 55 hams.
“It nearly brought me to tears to know there is such Christmas spirit here.
“This event is just not possible without local support who are committed to help those who are doing it tough.
“We were privileged to serve 150 people with a delicious meal, provide them with companionship and entertainment on Christmas Day.
“We wanted to ensure that no-one had to experience Christmas alone or go without during the festive season.”
Ms Davidson promised Samaritans would be back in 2019.
“It’s been so amazing to see the community rally around this event and support us,” she explained.
“We can’t thank you enough.”
Christmas Lunch in Singleton took place at the Senior Citizens Centre from 11am to 2pm on Tuesday.
