Story

The International School Moshi is seeking support for a new scholarship initiative, African Leadership Scholarship- Making a Difference in Africa, which aims to bring educational empowerment to the next generation of talented students from diverse backgrounds, including refugees and Internally Displaced People.

As the first school in Africa to offer the International Baccalaureate, ISM has a long history of offering a world-class education to a wide section of the community from diverse backgrounds and cultures. The school also has a deep history of working with local communities on projects that benefit future generations, one of which is by offering scholarships to talented youth who show potential but otherwise could not afford the opportunity. ISM has 100% success in getting its scholars to fully funded undergraduate study after their Diploma with us.

ISM has also now started an innovative new refugee teacher training initiative in Kakuma camp, Kenya in partnership with Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, UNHCR Kenya and Windle Trust amongst others. With less than 5% of refugees in school we feel this necessary project could benefit from the skills and knowledge of our teachers mentoring these new, young refugee teachers. The more teachers we can train, the more students can benefit from a secondary education.

We know there are more students who could benefit from our world-class education to help reform and change their communities and with your help we can support more of these students. This is why we are extending our scholarships to refugees within Kakuma camp to help create opportunities for the leaders of tomorrow!

About the charity

ISM was the first school in Africa to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma, pioneered the Middle Years Program which is now used in international schools worldwide and supports local community projects through its CAS programs. This philanthropic background extends to offering scholarships.
