Doctors and nurses at Box Hill Children’s Centre

Kinder children at Box Hill Children’s Centre loved visiting their local hospital last week.

On their walk there, the children practised their road safety skills, observing all the road signs and encouraging each other to hold hands.

At the hospital, children enjoyed a tour of the facilities, learning about the different departments, what happens when you’re there, and the role of doctors, nurses and other staff.

One of the highlights was meeting a brand new baby boy born the day before.

The children even received special calico dolls to decorate and take home.

Reconciliation, recycling and outdoor art at Brookside Preschool

Congratulations to Brookside Preschool in Caroline Springs for receiving a $500 grant from the Dennis Family Corporation for its commitment to strengthening Indigenous connections within the community.

The kinder has used the money to develop a beautiful mural focusing on native Australian bush, in particularly the Kororoit Creek, which is so relevant to its local community.

We're sure the children will love the new addition to their outdoor play space!

Earlier this month, Brookside Preschool officially launched their Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

The children prepared an Acknowledgment of Country, which was followed by a few words from a special visitor, Uncle Keith.

One of the main strategies of the kinder’s RAP is to engage with an Elder to enhance the children and educator’s understanding and learning of Indigenous culture.

Brookside Preschool is also taking part in a recycling challenge to teach children the benefits of waste management.

Children are getting to grips with worm farms and composting as part of Naturale Schools Recycle Right Challenge.

The challenge, part of Planet Ark’s National Recycling Week, is designed to give children an opportunity to learn about responsible waste management and recycling.

Hawaiian singing and dancing at Bulldogs Community Children's Centre

This week, children at Bulldogs Community Children's Centre had a special visit from a parent who dressed up as “Moana”, meaning ocean in Hawaiian. Moana did a traditional Hawaiian dance, sang songs and played her ukulele for the children, before teaching them how to say hello and goodbye in Hawaiian.

Remembrance Day commemorations at Mossfiel Children’s Centre

Mossfiel Children’s Centre enjoyed an action-packed National Children’s Week. The children learnt about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural values and traditions from True Culture’s Mitch and Ian. They dressed up as their favourite character one day and in their PJs another day had a visit from some friendly farm animals and shared a delicious BBQ lunch.

Children enjoyed participating in all the activities and learnt so much throughout the week.

Mossfiel Children’s Centre in Hoppers Crossing commemorated Remembrance Day by making poppy flowers to wear while they paid their respects to the soldiers.

The children then had a special visitor who dressed up in his grandfather’s uniform, initiated respectful conversations about the soldiers and led some exciting games.

The day was a great opportunity for children, families and educators to connect and learn together.

St Vincent’s children visit the Melbourne Museum

The children at St. Vincent's Kindergarten loved exploring the Melbourne Museum for the annual Romp & Stomp Fun Day for Kids during National Children's Week.

They were able to immerse themselves in music and movement, explore Indigenous culture, step into the prehistoric ages and investigate endangered animals and take part in creative activities at the different stalls. The day was so much fun that plans are already in place for the kinder's next trip to the museum!
