You might recall learning to read and occasionally you would be asked to stand in front of the class and read a few paragraphs from a book. It could be a little confronting when you didn't quite know a word and needed to take some time to sound it out with a sea of faces staring at you.
In some classrooms today it could be a friendly dog listening, one just like Moomin. English bull terrier Moomin is a volunteer story dog and is part of a national program where dogs go into schools and provide a friendly, non-judgmental companion for students learning to read. He doesn't criticize and he is happy to chill out and let students take as much time as they need.
Lisa Jane Hills is Moomin's human and goes along with him.
