Submission of Proposals

Are proposal submissions subject to blind-review?

Yes. All proposal submissions are subject to blind review. Description of types of proposal submissions are available here.

Is it possible to simply attend the conference without submitting a paper proposal?

Of course. Please note that all attendees must register and that registration rates will apply.

If I have submitted a paper or panel proposal, when should I register for the conference?

We recommend registering for the conference as soon as possible following notification of acceptance of your proposal on February 15, 2022. When you register early you will save on registration fees.

Is it possible to simply attend the conference without having an accepted paper submission?

Of course. Please note that all attendees must register and that registration rates will apply.

Do I need to upload my final paper before I register? 

You may register before uploading your final submission but please note that to participate in the conference, you are required to upload your final submission by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on May 31, 2022. 

Why is there an additional tax added to the conference registration fee?
Canadian law requires us to collect, process and submit taxes on registration fees.

How do I register? 

Visit our conference platform, click on “Register Now” and log in. You can use the password you used to log in when making a submission or you can request a link to be generated and sent to your email. After logging in, choose your ticket type (faculty / practitioner or student), complete the registration form and pay for your ticket. 

Is completing the registration form mandatory? 

Yes. Completing this form is mandatory because it will be used to develop our conference program.

What are the accepted payment methods? 

We accept credit or debit cards. Please note that our registration fee is in Canadian dollars.

Will there be an early-bird reduced fee if I register before a certain date?
Yes. Please learn more about this and related registration fee information here.

Will you be accepting on-the-spot registrations? 

No. The registration period ends at 11:59 p.m. EST on May 31, 2022. If you are unable to register by this time, please contact us as soon as possible.  

I am a student. Will there be discounted fees for me?
Yes. RWL12 registration fees feature a discounted student rate.

Conference Materials & Participation

I understand the conference will be virtual. What are the minimum system requirements to successfully participate in the conference?

To participate in the conference, you will need:

    • An internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE)
    • Speakers and a microphone – built-in, USB plug-in, or wireless Bluetooth
    • A webcam or HD webcam – built-in, USB plug-in, or an HD cam or HD camcorder with a video-capture card; Virtual camera software for use with broadcasting software like OBS or IP cameras.

I did not receive an email regarding my submission. When was it sent?

All decisions regarding proposal submissions were communicated on February 15, 2022. If you did not receive an email, please contact us.

My proposal is accepted. When is the deadline for uploading my paper?
The deadline for uploading your materials is 11:59 p.m. EST on May 31, 2022. Please note other important dates and deadlines as well.

Will my paper or panel presentation be included in the official conference program?

Yes, all paper or panel presentations will be scheduled in the official conference program provided the final paper or panel written submission(s) are received by 11:59 p.m. EST on May 31, 2022.

My proposal has been accepted. What date/time is my session?
A complete program inclusive of times and dates of all sessions and events will be posted to the conference website no later than July 1, 2022. 

Will there be Conference Proceedings?

An electronic copy of the Conference Proceedings will be available to registrants via weblink for download. Please note that final papers or panel submissions will only be included in the conference proceedings if they are received by 11:59 p.m. EST on May 31, 2022 and the author(s) successfully register for the conference.

How can I ensure my submission will be in the Conference Proceedings?

For final submissions to be included in the RWL12 Toronto Conference Proceedings, sole or first authors must be registered for the conference by 11:59 p.m. EST on May 31, 2022. If you are not registered, your confirmation to present will expire. Should you have any further questions, please

Is it possible to include only an abstract in the Conference Proceedings?

Yes, provided your full submission is received by 11:59 p.m. EST on May 31, 2022.

I am a student. Will I be automatically eligible for consideration for the RWL Best Student Paper Award?

To be eligible for the RWL Best Student Paper Award you are required to confirm your status as a registered student at the time of submission of your paper. Please note that to be eligible the paper submission must be either sole-authored by the student or lead-authored by the student.

I understand there will be a special issue of the journal Studies in Continuing Education dedicated to showcasing papers from the RWL12 Toronto conference. How do I get my paper considered for review for this special issue?

When you submit your final paper, you will be asked to give an in-principle indication of your intention to have your RWL12 conference paper considered for review for inclusion in the RWL12 Toronto Studies in Continuing Education special post-conference journal issue.
