At Red Cross we see reconciliation as a journey based on truth telling and recognition of the past. It’s a journey we can only make together, with everyone contributing to shared outcomes.

Australian Red Cross started working on our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) more than ten years ago. We’ve now started work on our fourth RAP due to be published later this year.

Our reconciliation movement is guided by the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership team, the RAP Implementation Group and our RAP Champions. These key groups have stayed focused and pushed us to stretch our reconciliation aspirations without losing sight of the past.

We have celebrated achievements while also recognising the challenges and setbacks faced in advancing reconciliation.

With our next steps, we want to advance reconciliation across the humanitarian sector. This will see personal and individual commitments evolve to make reconciliation a core part of our business. It will be observable, with reconciliation in action across the whole organisation.
