Born in Western Victoria, I became a Dominican friar in 1959 and was ordained in 1965. I worked up and down Eastern Australia until 1991, when I went to Aotearoa-New Zealand for twenty years, then to the Solomon Islands for four. After some medical adventures, I’ve been back in Melbourne since 2016. Archways to the Infinite was published in 2018, (Garratt Publications)) and Clerical Errors in 2022 (Wipf and Stock). After researching to write Clerical Errors, I felt that I could not continue to support the clericalism that is so deeply a part of the church’s current structure and activities, so I moved out of the Dominican community in which – in different places – I had lived for sixty-two years. I now live as a “suburban hermit”. I no longer celebrate Eucharist in the distorted form that is currently compulsory, but only in several small truth-seeking groups. For this, I have been seriously penalised by the institution.
