The people of Greater Sydney enjoy great parks, waterways and bushland. As the city’s population grows and changes, we need these precious areas to be sustainable for generations to enjoy.
Coordinating this is a big job. Greater Sydney Parklands has been established to work with councils and other park managers to create a grid of green spaces across the city. This will build on the existing network of Sydney’s oldest and best loved parklands – Centennial Parklands, Western Sydney Parklands, Parramatta Park, Callan Park and Sydney’s newest parkland Fernhill Estate.
The Department has prepared a white paper that sets out how Greater Sydney Parklands might work. The paper proposes a governance and legislative structure that will establish an effective framework for action, advocacy, public participation and success.
Your feedback will help inform arrangements to ensure Greater Sydney Parklands does the best possible job in planning for, and looking after, existing and future parklands across the city.
